A beginning again
a blog
I have started this in 2010 and it is now 2014.
I have so many thoughts in my head! Shall I write about quilting? Grandkids? Books? Movies?
To begin, I will explain that I get some of my best ideas while I am walking. By the time I change shoes, I have forgotten them. But I plan to try to share great ideas here!

It's January and everyone is talking about organizing and de-cluttering. After half a century and a move to a smaller house, I have almost gotten organized. And like losing weight takes eating less and moving more, de-cluttering just takes getting rid of stuff and putting the stuff you keep in some order. In 2013, I realized I didn't really have an office workspace. The printer was in the guest room. The checkbook was somewhere. And bills--paid and unpaid--ended up in piles. Over the course of a couple of weeks, I moved the printer to the shelves in the great room. I found 2 unused file boxes and put them on the shelf of the coffee table. And even found a spot for the checkbook (which is not used often because of e-banking), stamps, and envelopes. The 2 file boxes I use for (1) tax stuff and (2) other stuff such as medical info, grandkids notes and pictures, church papers. These were very simple changes, but it has been great! I have even started using the scan feature of the printer.
I have an appointment on my google calendar for February to sort the boxes of pictures from my parents' home and scan them. Then I'm taking the paper pictures to my aunt, who doesn't have a computer.
Back to my de-cluttering...the piles are gone. Oh, maybe a small pile appears over a busy week--but it is small and it is easy to make it vanish in a few minutes when I do my weekly "straightening" of the room. The bills get paid. I print the things I need when I need them rather than when I think to go back to the guest room.
Dear daughter and I recently talked about how some things loom over us--and if we would just do them, we would spend 20-30 minutes doing something that would free us!
If I have a resolution for this year--it is to do it now.
